... Still wheezing away over here. Apparently, this is a beast of a viral infection that can leave peeps feeling unwell for several weeks... My dear dad-in-law has also suffered a stroke and his wife is nursing a broken arm on top of having just had stomach surgery! :(( What a recent catalogue of events. But thank you so much for your lovely notes of care and kindness - very much appreciated, my love and hugs to you all. xx
YOU NEVER KNOW
You never know how
hot a heart can burn
until touching the sun;
you never know how
far a mind can travel
until visiting the asylum.
You never know how lonely
is death until fading in
a midsummer garden,
or what hope is until cradling
in your palm the redwood’s seed.
You never know contentment
until, lying frozen at the bottom
of a Hispar crevasse,
you feel how distant above are
shivering snowfields of stars,
Okey-dokey. I'm donning my snow shoes as we speak, to go trudging through the stars. I'll kick some moon-glitter your way... I wish...I wish...I wish... you could breathe as fluidly as you can write. --charlie
I can relate to wheeze and snot, a month's worth here at the asylum, though quite trivial compared to stokes and broken bones and surgery. Now the garden thing, well, death comes early to mister black thumb, more like mid spring when everything just craps out. I gave up and now go to the farmer's market. Green thumbs have an advantage. "and say, for love, it's worth it", Kate there could be a more compelling reason. I am issuing a healing decree to you and yours that is now making its way across the pond. My very best to you my dear friend. Love and peace be withyou. Jon Michael
Sorry to hear that life has kicked you in the butt, Kate, and that you have been sick. Horrors! I will keep you in my prayers/thoughts! Hope you feel better soon!
(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in America, Karen Lynn in Texas. :(
like how you brought this all together in the end;-)Prayers for you and your in-laws. maddening how some viruses can hang on and cause secondary infections etc. Hope it will be gone soon,Kate!
the emotional perplexity of distant sparks of hope and contentment, are worth our spirits' sojourning to ... good to see your work ... strangely, today's the first day i've had the will to get on AD since you last wrote ... hopefully, i can muster my own inspired whims ...
Kate, your verse causes me to stop and think...because through it all, you seem to have this calm surrounding you. Beautiful writing....so good to read you again...and prayers continue for you and yours.
The wheezing will go away, Kate, it's a passing nuisance, and a stroke and a broken arm won't keep good people down...
and your poetry will shine forever.
John
Again wrap up the world and your heart in a wrap of serenity and offer it as a present for all of us to read and enjoy well done and hope you are feeling better soon,

Ah Kate. How dear do my heart are the sentiments that you express via your verse here. I feel a deep and thorough "connection" to what you share. I love all of the images that your words have elicited. Thank you for this gift. Love and best wishes to you,
Kate, first, I want to send you my love and healing energy. You are going through so much.
I have to say, your poem reflects your serenity amongst chaos. You have a way of looking at things in such a reflective manner that calms the mind and spirit. Love is amazing when it comes from the one that you love. I am so glad to see you posting again, I have missed you much. (When you have time check out my latest poem Paramour, you will see that we are on the same wave length!)
Take care, breathe in healing sea air, and please don't forget to smile...
Much peace, love and light,
Amber

You never know is such a phrase, and you have dealt with it the way you always deal with things I have found out. And that is with expressive and searching phrases to make you stop and say, damn! that's right, and then how does Kate do it time and time again. Authors Den is fortunate to have you in its midst.
One thing I hope you do know, dear Kate, is how much
