forced between the tides soaked then hung out to dry ... the cycle of life continues inside your surging verse ... your imagery is developing quite nicely ...
Imagery is fluid, the whole poem perfectly captures the inner turbulence between the slow and the fleetest, contrasting lives/people/places/landforms/etc. I liked your fondness of adjectives in the last two strophes!
'MUDFLAT'...STUCK IN THE HEAVY DREDGE OF NOTHINGNESS, THE 'BED' WHOSE OWN COMPOSITES HAVE TURNED AGAINST IT...STILL FIGHTS...AGINST A CONDITION OF CONTINUOUS STRANGULATION...DROWNING OVER AND OVER AGAIN IN ITS OWN BLOOD. YES...DEFINITELY TWO PERSPECTIVES HERE BUT NATURE OR HUMAN CONDITION...IT'S SAD. THANKS FOR SHARING THIS WORK OF ART WHICH I WILL KEEP. LOVE, BLESSINGS & FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS
Kate, this is confirmation of the sea and its interface's indeterminable role as man's mentor and confirmation of your remarkable poetic ability to interpret and relate. In truth, the essence of the mud-flat's process rather than the absolute of the results are what impress and give guidance, provide us with understanding. It is good to see another impressive rendering from your hand crafting the flow of ink. Love and peace to you my dear friend. Jon Michael
But for the empty bed this poem actually reaches out. It is a cry in the wilderness for someone to love, and be loved by them. I can identify with your words here, Kate, and the images this piece conjures up. Thank you for sharing.
May the Lord Bless you, and those whom you love, and be with you always, and walk by your side. With love in my heart, joy to the world, peace on earth, & ((((((((((MANY WONDERFUL SISTERLY HUGGGGSSSS)))))))))), your little sister Barbie.
For me, mudflats always conjure up images of distance, the tide out, birds feeding and an ineffable longing; you, Kate, see the intimacy of exchanges, the shifts of feeling and balance,
and you see superbly.
Stellar write, Where is that cube when you need it, a drout endures so much madness, but the rains of refreshness do come~ Hope all is well with you and your family, in my prayers~

Christine

You are, without a doubt, one of, if not THE deepest thinkers we have here on AD. When you give us poetry, you deliver what poetry is supposed to be, a search into the deepness of our very souls. Loved this search.
Those who have walked on the mud flats and felt the almost gripping pull of wet ooze on bare feet will surely relate to this poem and the possible metaphors that wind and weave throughout it. Your work improves with age and time....

A fine personification of a special place, Kate. To me, your poem is also metaphorical and symbolic. Mudflats can be incredibly full of life. Love and best wishes,
Kate, your poem reaches me and makes me cry. It is a journey into the deepest and most profound folds of a heart. The imaginative range of your words and metaphors is extraordinary. I think you should send these poems to the Poetry Foundation.
I hope you are well now.
Blessings,
Christine
This is a book of free verse poetry that addresses the seven main tests in life and offers some sensible solutions to passing those tests with minimal discomfort.
