I know that when my heart is in turmoil and pain I often wonder how it is that the rest of the world goes on, while I stay paused in my misery and grief...too much in shock to hit play. When finally I muster the courage to hit play it sometimes feels as though I am in slow motion while the rest of the world flies by in double time. Maybe that is all because I tend to hit rewind as I struggle and grapple with making sense of what has gone on to cause the moment's pain.
This poem is great, play usually the button we are looking for......have to laugh though, i need pause....so busy lately.....Are the right buttons ever working.......good one. Morgan
Kate, this is so much more complex than the initial blush of it would seem -- living life in the hold cycle fearful of another ferocious attack from reality -- debating whether to remain stopped or to brave up and go for "press play" -- rewind not an option to any save the Draconian lot -- this is life teetering precariously on the edge of abject fear -- Axilea's assessment of the adverse influence of politicos on the mindset of humanity is spot on from my perspective -- misinformation and innuendo are the dancing partners of tyrants. I bid you love and peace my dear friend -- Jon Michael
The universality of this piece is what strikes me most. And, of course, I love the way you played with the words "play" and "pause", Kate. Also, when I think of the horror of war and the way politicians (or fanatics) manipulate people into hatred and destruction, it makes me want to press "stop". :)
Clever words and insight into how Mr. Peraza must feel. Joy must come from within, and in such pain everything inside is halted in order to process such a catastrophic trauma.
At least I don't think this is auto-biographical...at least I hope not! ! !

I quite understand this boo-hoo ku, Kate, as I, myself am floundering around like the old beached whale trying to come up with an idea for my next book. I'm looking for something different, and I think George Carroll might have given me some inspiration when he emailed me about something I had never heard of . . . Bilocation.
In the Whirlwind is a poetic storm that frees history from the cages of corruption and puts it in the hands of everyday people. Words are weaved into a new fashion statement that has nothing to do with runways but everything to do with projects!
Questions, unquestioned discoveries, and answers in parable and rhyme…. This collection records a journey starting with a 1960s retrospective and the first man on the moon, moving to a new millennium welcomed in with a terrorist spin, family crises,
