I love the idea of breaching boundaries. I am intrigued by "quietly treading water." This is to be felt and understood, eyes closed. I'd love to hear you read it aloud. It feels like velvet washing over me.
Aye, M'Lady, the dreams may toss restlessly, and sometimes even end up athwart the tide. But they are a necessary part of our imagination. Let a chocolate breeze catch your sails.
I love how we can be bathed so purely by the light of dreams and immersed by their secrets within the maze of their course. Beautiful work as always, Kate I truly hope you are well my friend.

Kate, this magnificent poem has been posted for a while and I somehow have been ignorant of its existence much to my dismay. You relate 'Dreams' with elegant lines that caress the senses and play in the mind on a panoramic theatrical screen that teases the imagination. And then whisper with tenderness philosophical expressions that demand our attention, lest we miss even one heightened reference. For dreams are the quintessential essence of our nocturnal realm where we spend those mysterious and regenerative portions of our lives. I see the bliss of conception and our ties to the deep in this work of art. A library piece for this reader's ongoing enjoyment. I wish you love and peace my dear friend. Jon Michael
Organic beauty, mineral mystery, the sea within our mind. Love the word choice, especially in the whole second stanza, with caressing and penetrating sounds.
Hugs, dear Kate.

Your symbolism is as rich as the imagery and alliterative force of your poetry. Seas that curl like readers with a good book in front of a fire hold much subconscious allure in the dreamscape of your fantastic world, replete with a nightswimming image of "quietly treading water" under the "thinning moon" ... you've set a pensive and pregnant mood that is as fertile as "love-rippled skin / keeping us from sleep." Such an archetypal poem. Wonderful tone and so sensitively-wrought.
The imagery that you have created vividly paints the dreamscape that you have shared through your verses. Thank you, Kate. Love and best wishes to you,

In all Englishmen/people, we have the salt of the sea in our being.
To life your metaphors do come. Rather like a mirrored sea in the hush of a moonlit night. Purbeck isle is deep within your being too.
such dreams are exactly as you have so beautifull described

Thanks for sharing this exquisitely crafted piece with us, full of explicit, vivid imagery and profound sensitivity. I particularly loved the opening line as well as the perfectly crafted "They magnetise like moistened lips." Just lovely, Kate!
There are soothing abstracts here, making us aware that dreams are of both our conscious time and slumber time, and in all cases, there to offer some subtext to our perceptions, imbuing our understanding with personal insight reserved for only the dreamer's sense of magic. Like most of your verbal tapestries, DREAMS provides much to ponder and use, becoming a viable tool for the reader's own private aspirations of the mind and heart.
Kate, this one is full of fun and frivolity and masterfully done by you. Double entendre's fill the lines unceasingly, and I read with a crooked grin plastered all over my mug. You took the English language and rocked with it. Yep. Masterful. I'll be saving this . . .
If you tend to believe romantic, passionate, masculine poetry is a thing of past eras, read "She Intrigues Me," and be swept away in the beautiful craft of a contemporary poet of love.
Contraband Marriage, traveling along the hemline of loving after incarceration, is a love story written in lyric and free form, set in reality with a different ever after.
