Stranded on this jagged heart shaped island,
Sending emotions out in bottles to the rising tides,
Wondering if love will someday find me.

Loneliness becomes routine,
The wind, the sun and the moon are my friends.
Holding conversations keeps the enemy of solitude away.

The weakening mind fades in and out of reality,
But is still stronger then the heart,
Whose sense of belonging has been lost.

Ships pass in the night,
As dreams pass with awakening,
Interrupting a world of joyful pretend.

Sharks of insecurities threaten any escape,
And possible rescues always end in disaster,
Confirming a life long sentence.

Occasional new discoveries upon the island,
Lead to the small hope of recovery,
But memories of past failures,
Once again sink and drown all optimism.
