Retirement Planning (tongue firmly in cheek)

I had planned when I retire
I will set the world on fire
So many things were yet undone
Myriad ways to have some fun
To learn the tongues I always liked
So many mountains to be hiked
Musical instruments yet to play
Before my hair turned sparse and grey.
Read and enjoy classics of yore
Religion, history, poetry and more
To see the world, travel and cruise
All boredom with activity lose
.
There is just one thing that I forgot
Excellent memory I thought I'd got
These plans were made when I was young
Back, knees, eyes, heart and lung
Worked all as one-each every one
Now half the time the back is out
Knees creak, arms hurt, without a doubt
The sight is dim, and that's not all
Memory is hazy with poor recall
What to do with things so changed ?
No worries, I have it all arranged
Will start working again and survive
Regroup, recharge, renew, revive
Retirement plans made in my youth
As soon as I finish this gin and vermouth! /
