The wind picks up
Black clouds clash
Rumble roar and below
There's a blazing flash
The sky gets hid
And all is dark
Now here, now there
A flashing spark
With golden gashes
The Heavens rend
As the clouds rage
And torrents send
The world just cowers
No place to hide
From this unpredictable
Raging tide
Then just as suddenly
As it came
The light and sound show
Is now tame
The Heavens clear up
The Sun's aglow
Our world returns
Wrapped in a rainbow
You have captured the essence of a storm beautifully with few words.
Except when I was out in the open, and would run to find a tree to protect me from the wind and rain, but not for the possibility of lightning striking the tree, I never "cowered" in a storm.
I remember going out on the front porch when storms came up and watching every aspect of their development and feeling the wind and rain from the protection of the side of the house getting the brunt of the weather. The air smell and fluctuating pressure was always exciting for me to experience, along with the sheer force of a really strong storm.
I knew what to do in a tornado, but never experienced one. I do recall one night hanging onto our pup tent to keep it from blowing away while trees were crashing down around us.
Using Calgary as a backdrop the author satirizes the self-serving nature of the public as it continues to fatten itself, not only physically, but egotistically as well.
