The mind 'tis said is never still
A thought is born and stays until
Another one displaces it
Just as butterflies flit
When it stays awhile-fixed
Joyous, sorrowful or mixed
We never stop and ask -Why?
Why it stays? What makes it fly
Away? Never to return
We can not fathom or discern
Our contemplating- Why? or How?
Why not yesterday? Why now?
Why this particular one
Why depressing? Or - Why fun?
I think and think of all the Whys
Why time stands still? Why it flies?
Or, why we have a mind at all?
To rejoice? Reflect? Or recall?
I find no answer. Why I think?
Or why I put these thoughts to ink
