Optimism

Whispered words into a palm,
hummed a note of hope,
blew a kiss into the mix,
closed the envelope.

Sent the notes upon the wind,
with wings it took its flight,
floating like a symphony
into the starry night.

Skyward with a melody,
soared amidst the clouds,
rained upon all those it passed
'fore settling to the ground.

The man who came upon it,
surveyed it with dismay,
a worthless message, it appeared,
the glass half empty today.

Took the package to his home,
this time he broke the seal,
the lyrics poured from deep inside,
full of feelings now revealed.

He whispered back into his palm,
hummed a note of hope,
blew a kiss into the mix,
closed the envelope.

She waited on the front porch,
for the wind to carry her way,
the harmony of two as one,
a glass half full today.
