The River has its own mind

taking us places we must go

if we accept Love is the current

luscious life becomes the flow

The River asks that we surrender

but our nature is to fight

against the current that would carry

us to valleys made of light

Instead we cling to negativity

Weighed down by greed and pride

Tumbled along the rocky bottom

where we’re scarred deep down inside

Let go the weight that drowns us

in depression, hate and fear

rise once again to the calm surface

and our vision becomes clear

We see our wounds have healed

Edges smooth which once were rough

The River’s bottom cleansed our spirits

made our hearts just strong enough

The River is like a circle

without end or a beginning

When to this truth we do awaken

we can understand its meaning

For we have been born to the River

and by the River we are borne

through this life to find our passion

For with passion life is adorned

As we drink deep from the River

it strengthens as it passes through

We become part of the River

and the life it brings anew
