A leaf fell from its branch to the ground
Impacted by the will and rain of a summer storm
A sudden caprice carrying with it
God’s will
And leaving behind overwhelming sadness
How could the leaf know such malevolence?
It only touched the hearts of other leaves
And hoped someday to fix hearts broken
God’s touch
Though did it break so many hearts
But when the thunderhead dissolved
When only breath and whisper lasted
A gentler wind took up the leaf
God’s breath
And to a paradise of trees it was delivered
I stand on my porch looking up at leaves
And plan for the coming might of summer storms
How do both happiness and sorrow fit
God’s plan
For those leaves left behind?
When two men hit the reset button and decide to go out looking for the good in the world, they not only find it but also a lot more.
