I took you to the desert today
With deep love and devotion in my heart
Smoothing your gorgeous hair back baby
In the shimmering heat of the searing sun
Red tailed falcons arcing
Over the Mojave skyline
Walking hand in hand
With committment in our hearts
Cacti and succulent horizon
As we forged our inseperable bond
Darling I love you so much
And in this sacred wilderness
You are forever mine
Golden rings we placed
On each other's finger
Coy glances flickered
Between our doting eyes
Two lovers silohuetted
Merged against the smouldering sands
Dissolved in romantic moments
Knowing this is the right time
Golden yellow blossom of the joshua tree
Made a gorgeous background to our heavenly spree
Yucca , creosote , blackbush and catclaws
Abound along the glorious way
And you and I are lost together
In passion's magnetic pull
Desert fox and scurrying rabbits
Enchanted us with nature
Soothing words of honesty
Sealed our trembling souls
As dusk began to settle
Cooling you and I
I wrapped you in my loving arms
Beneath a fleecy blanket
And watched the magical terrain
Alter once again
As swooping bats and hunting owls
Began their nightly prowl
I drew you close and whispered
Hunny I love you so
And high above in celestial glory
God laid out his lamps
We snuggled even closer
Embedded in Paradise's grip
And you and I will always remember
The day of our desert committment .

Gorgeous. The desert does have a beauty all its own. I have grown up around deserts, in deserts, and I appreciate your description very much. Very romantic, too. :)
There are many that doesn't appreciate the true beauty of the dessert, but I'm not one of them..
I felt the coolness when your sun set, and enjoyed each vibrant color you described!

This is Great, though the images it left me with probably were not what you intended. I guess that's one of the beauties of poetry. The joshua tree reference brought back memories of the first time I went to the Joshua Tree National Forest and thought I'd see real trees... I'll stop boring you.
There is nothing to surpass nature and two lovers. Your poem is one of passion that loves exactly where you put it. Excellent combination of hearts and creation/environment. A beautiful Kodak moment!
