You knew when I looked in your eyes
That I truly loved you
Those glorious moments when time stood still
I stroked your beautiful soft hair
Te amor my darling you are so fair
We filled the glass of life
To the very brim
Savored every drop of passion's sweet wine
Lingered beneath the willow tree of love
As the moon appeared in beguiling hue
Time moves on in remorseless style
Nothing lasts in this transitory world
But God's undying love
Hold on to our memories of joy
That will never fade or perish
The ghost of our silohuettes can still be seen
Down Eternity Lane , where true love never dims
I gave you the best I had to give
And left you the keys of life forever more
The final stanza is so powerful, Peter... has all the penetration of diminishing footsteps, somehow. I wonder how many keys lie imprinted in our hearts and souls of which each is the only means to unlock doors of meaning that make us the people we are today? Ooo, I can feel a poem coming on somewhere... thank you for this inspiration! See, you only have to reappear and "things happen!" So glad to see you here again and, as all have said, you are still wielding the poet's all-powerful pen. This one lingers. TY Kate xx
A search for the ghost of a chorus girl chorine haunting a costume designer’s Manhattan apartment leads to an encounter with an eccentric, mischievous witch with the ability to send folks back through time…in this case, the 1919 Ziegfeld Follies.
