Emotions change so rapidly in the soul. But the ones we nourish most are the ones that direct our thoughts, words, and actions. Love does test the character of the heart. But it is the heart that carries the final balancing of Love. The ache here is obvious. The longing palpable. True love is NEVER forgotten in the memory of who we are, no matter how distant or near it may seem. :)

Well we do seem to think of love as spectacular emotions and heroic acts for the beloved! The best love relationships are built up like a fine lacquer finish and many accumulated layers of the heart, Peter. The roots of the deepest love die in the heart if not tenderly cherished. You did Jerry's challenge well!

Been there and done that too many times in my life Peter. Just a horrid desert to be stuck in without water. This dredged up a lot of old memories.
I believe it took guts to write this.

This is just heartbreaking, but excellent for the challenge (why did we not think of something like that?). A life without love, without the prospect of love, a gutwrenching thought..

Knowing you as well as I do and knowing the great love you share with your wife and family you did Jerry's challenge very well. While reading this poem I almost got lost in the emotion as though you were hurting but....I know better than that.
