Those Hands

Those hands.. that once held a seedling cradled tenderly in your calloused palms those capable hands whose sensitive fingers tucked infant rootlings in the still dark soil hands that soothed.... caressing tender leaves with love and care nurturing, sheltering... fingers dancing over its shivering growth Those hands destroyed all they had held so close with one savage twist Coldly ripping ... the young plant into myriad tiny pieces of tender green scattered like confetti over the sterile ground Quiet now... those hands clasp together softly Waiting... for the new seedling to emerge
