I've heard the proverb several times that "the wind from one door closing often blows open another." I never really gave any thought to that until last week when my entire life got flipped upside down and I had to take that life by the horns and say "I don't think so. You're not going to knock me down and leave me here." Hopping back in the saddle is sometimes hard, but it's something that has to be done.
Life's travels tend to
wind down one path,
meandering comfortably along,
content with the pace
and view until something
falls to block it.
At this point one
has three choices:
climb the obstacle,
go back,
or find a new path.
To overcome the challenge
may seem best,
for you know THAT path,
had been happy
to travel along it.
To go back seems absurd;
you've already been there
why regress?
But to choose a new path,
to blindly search for
something with which you
are not accustomed,
this is the most difficult
choice of all.
So many paths branching,
opportunities waiting,
things to be discovered
and re-discovered.
Fear may keep you
on the path of convenience
but ambition will send
you in search of new
horizons, new knowledge,
a new way to exist.
Don't settle with
contentment in your life.
It is not enough to
be merely happy.
Dare to dream, to search,
to demand those things
that could make every
day a day for rejoicing.
Life's only disappointment
would not be to have
demanded and not achieved,
but to have never asked
at all.
A value packed poem you have written, my friend. It must come from the heart and mind-set of an exceptional poet ... and person! Well done!
