This song was inspired after listening to the CD titled "Strong and Wild" by Heidi Prop. The majority of the lyrics on this highly recommended CD by this young and moving artist were written by our Den's very own...Laurie Lonsdale. Thank you Laurie.

Beer Sex Blues

By Felix Perry

Crack a beer, pull up a chair

Listen to that smooth blue’s rift

Baby sings, Ella’s spirit rings

Her heart, soul and mind adrift

          Chorus

Dim light, midnight…wishing you were here

Lonlies, phonies…cheap sex for just a beer

No I’ll be fine, till closing time

Don’t need anyone pawing me

Talk is cheap, love is deep

No thanks, I’ll pay a taxi’s fee

Killer smile, I miss a while

Wondering what went wrong

Too dark for tears, no one cares

Come on heart be strong

Last call, try not to fall

This barstools awful high

Home alone, wait for the phone

Tonights just another sigh

Sounds so lonely and sad, but happens to many lonely hearts. There is always someone lurking around the corner waiting for a lonely heart to take advantage off. Nice write cuz. Love & hugs

Your poem reminds me of my time in the military many years ago. As the old saying goes:

Beer is cheap
And it helps me sleep.

Very rich with both sentiment and graphic detail, Felix. Much background and feeling is displayed here which leads us into the 3D life and times of the speaker. Yes, this is blues, but the feely-touchiness seems very C&W to me. Love the height of the barstool... I always think I'm gonna get a nosebleed when I manage to jack myself up on one! :)) Great work which does your Muse proud. Love this, thank you. Kate xx

Excellent dear Fee and your fan club appears to whole heartedly agree. Only you could come up with a last line like, "tonights just another sigh." BRAVO

We're all seeing another side of you, Fee...that of a songwriter. You have that special magic here, bringing your words alive. My son being a songwriter/composer, I can feel it here and can almost here the sound of a acrostic guitar playing in the background.

This is really great!
Wishing you and your family a happy and healthy Easter.

~hugs~

You're very welcome, Felix. I'm flattered that the CD inspired you. This is VERY well done!! Full of emotion and tells quite a story. Passing on lust in favor of love - she must be something special. Would work well with a bluesy feel, a slow but steady backbeat to mimic the sexual aspect, and some raw, smoky vocals to bring the pain and lonliness to the surface.

(((Fee)))

Them beer sex blues will git ya every time. :) Love the lyrics; sadness and loneliness excellently conveyed in memorable lines

"no I'll be fine till closing time
don't need anyone pawing me
talk is cheap, love is deep
no thanks, I'll pay a taxi's fee...."

and

"Last call, try not to fall
this barstool's awful high ...." my favorite lines. You clearly capture the moooood. :)!

Enjoyed.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
