Sometimes the world of fantasy takes us on the most delicious rides across the scenes we love to see...

Poem Artwork

The Old Beach Cottage

By: Fee

He rode a black stallion from the Northern clime

A white mare from the South carried her just fine

To a little cottage on the dunes past the water line

Pulled curtains, locked door, sips of sweet red wine

No phones, no TV, an old radio trying to keep time

He holds her in this dream as their arms entwine

How could sweet fantasies like this be such a crime

Her sweet morning kiss on his lips would be divine

If they could but awake just once to warm sunshine

Hoofprints imprinted  in the surf wet sand

One goes North one goes South you understand

They fly past the derelict cottage on the shore

It seems no one wants to live there anymore…

Fee,

Sounds like heaven to me. I love peace and quiet. It's even better when one has someone to share it with. Excellent imagery and a unique rhyme scheme throughout.

Beautiful words and yes I would love to be the fine lady riding the fine white mare. To be a part of such serenity and romance in a little place of such beauty and to hear the rolling waters. I can certainly put my imagination to work.

Love you cuz,
Selena

Melancholy will buy you a rose...if you were the riding she; as it is this melancholic poem will buy you a full tumbler of Glenfiddich in company of equally somber friend...that also was there but never got that darn T-shit.

Perhaps this is the cottage where that Blaguart Mr Willoughby enticed poor Beth, only to leave her withchild, or even the Conniving Mr Wickham held out with young Lydia Bennett till he was discovered by Fitzwilliam Dary...No wonder no one wants to live there :)
Very thought provoking, with a touch of bittersweet romance dear Fee.
