I thought our winter was over but this morning I woke up to a winter wonderland of light powder (about eight inches fell overnight) that was soooo pretty it seemed winter just wanted to give us one last memory of how truly beautiful snow can be...

The Last Kiss From Winter’s Lips

By: Fee

So soft, tender like the brush of a cloud

Gentle as if knowing time must end

The chill is gone, but memory lingers on

Though he knows spring is around the bend

He touches those limbs that comfort him

Yet he feels a distance in their touch

Like a lover who outgrew his mate

A cool breeze trembles, it’s too much

Winter feels new life growth uncovering

And he knows that it’s not his to claim

The wind picks up and a teardrop of rain

Washes the snow away in sullen shame

Nice, my friend. Soft and sweetly versed. Once in every great while, I will say "I wish I had written that." This is one of those times!

Awwww, such beauty is but seen and absorbed so rarely. Perhaps the gentle white blanket protected all the new seedlings about to make their entrance in a rainbow of colors.....

Be always safe,

If there's one thing I miss living on the West Coast it's the fact we don't get much snow. Thanks for the reminders, Fee. Love and peace,

Fee, a beautiful write, but I have to admit that this time of the year, is NOT my fave :-). I just returned to Ottawa and an extra 75+ cms greeted me since I have been gone!!! Arghhhhh.. great write though, quite romantic really. Enjoyed, as usual.

Good Morning Fee,
You have a very Beautiful View!!
As George M says...ahhh yess!
I seen the buds on some Bradford Pear trees the other day & regretfully had no camera type with me to capture (or try) the naked branches in front of the blue sky & new buds.....

Maybe it was a she winter throwing away her white gown and going naked in front of you...sadly you missed her when looking at the discarted clothes...

Love the poem and the picture. And very soon, it truly will be the last kiss from winter's lips. Think Spring!

What a fantastic poem! Frankly, I've never felt any sympathy for Winter--it was always"good riddance." You have given the closing of winter a beautiful, poetic significance, bringing a wistfulness to the heart of Old Man Winter. (I didn't know he had a heart until now!) It's so unique, it amazes me.
I'm keeping this one, and also sending it to a special friend who is very discerning in her taste for poetry. I know it will delight her.

After reading it four times, I'm still warmed by it. Connie

Eight inches is "light powder"? HolySmokes - we missed the last kiss of winter - only the barest brush of its lips this one - Spring has SPRUNG. 80 today, 90 tomorrow ... hang on, it's on the way!

Still and all, a most beautiful wonderland you pen - you took me where you are. Thank you.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
