I was enjoying the delicious romp through this one, Felix - but then gutted by the final verse: especially that last line, which is a real kicker!! You took me from carefree, joyous commitment to a crestfallen, crumpled dashed hope in a breath... You are master at these poignant ironies and lovers' knocks, so perhaps I should have seen it coming; but such are your powers of evocation and keeping your readers held breathless in the moment that I wasn't even looking towards the final line - and floored when I got there! The mark of good writing! :)) Lovely work as always, xx
