Love’s Injustice Denied

Last night I dreamt such a stunning image

of you seeking comfort on the shore

Perhaps it was but an echo of my yearning

Far from you but wanting you even more

Felt your longing in that late night dream

With your every breath and saltine tear

How my arms ached to reach out and hold

The one that I hold so very dear

In self righteous tones the sea birds raged

“Oh, the injustices of love…” they cried

I called your name, you turned to smile

Whispered “True love cannot be denied.”

Then I felt unseen fingers touch my cheek

Felt your rose petal lips kiss mine

Heard your voice say: "Sleep well my love

Someday, somehow our sun will shine…"
