If I Could Write A Love Song If … I were going to write our love song The title would be your name and mine The first line would be my heart beating To my old guitar in a yearning 4/4 time The melody would be the summer breeze Chorded by laughter on a sandy shore In the first verse I’d count my blessings Thanking God for giving me you for sure Second verse would say how you excite me With just a simple smile, a word or two This verse I know would almost write itself Because you turn me on with all you do In our song’s refrain I‘d promise you forever Maybe changing key to a voice soft but clear Write about a waltz to last a life time A whispered: “I’ll always love you…” in your ear The last verse would be a happy ending Words telling of two lover’s sharing a kiss And the last line would be ours to cherish Because cupid granted me my lover’s wish…
