Funeral Promise
By: Felix L. Perry
Last night I dreamt of a funeral
Solemn shades of black and white
Ebon skies were dark and dreary
Almost as if approaching night
Just a simple crematorium urn
Was all it took to hold his soul
No need a priest for benediction
As they placed him in that hole
A cousin sang his last request
“He stopped loving her today.”
What they had, had tempted fate
But he had loved her anyway
When thunder boomed a warning
The heavens opened up with rain
Family cut short their last goodbyes
To one they’d never see again
But in the lane beside an old Camaro
Stood the true widow of his heart
She dropped a tear stained red rose
Whispered: “We’ll never be apart…”
to bid the person goodby as his life and journey is now complete and
he is now wed to his savior, his creator. He is returned from whence he came and he was tested and found worthy to live in the home of his father forever. The Kingdom of God is a beautiful garden filled with many beautiful flowers, some big, some little, and The
