~ A Lovers Song ~

The evening mist is hovering

above waves as they crest

foamy fingers crawling

along the sand to touch the rest

As the sun slides slowly

down the evening sky

slipping beyond the horizon

as quietly as a sigh

A faint sound is heard

over the noise of the sea

then under it, like a whisper, my name

floating upon the winds to me

The sounds at first were so soft

stirring something deep in my soul

as night slowly glides across the sky

like chocolate covering a bowl

The sounds are increasing in volume

as they drift closer to me

Filled with a quality of magic

musical as the sea

Mystical and enchanting

but meant for me all along

from far away for my heart alone to hear

a haunting lovers song
