~ Wearing Your Shirt ~

I can’t be with you today

but if you close your eyes and think

I’ll be beside you in the kitchen

wearing your shirt - standing by the sink

~~

That’s me in the bedroom

waiting quietly on our bed

Just close your eyes and remember

relive those memories in your head

~~

I’ll be your light in the darkness

shinning steady through and through

You only have to watch it glow

to know I think of you

~~

I am in the music that you listen to

 there in every song

laughing and singing with you

comforting you when the day’s gone wrong

~~

I’ll be the wind that ruffles your hair

or that warm embrace

The hand on your shoulder

and that tender touch on your face

~~

I will be the clock gently ticking

reminding you of the times

we’ve shut the rest of the world outside

to be in our own - yours and mine

~~

See me in the moon as it dances

on the water warm and still

For I have loved you always

and I know  I always will

~~

You may not see me physically

as you live you life today

Just close your eyes and think of me

wearing your shirt - I’ll not be far away

Mmm, yes, I have often worn the shirt of my beloved in his absence, and it brings a hum of contentment and sweet memory to my heart.

Ah, Carole, such tender, sad words! I wrote one in this vein a couple of years ago, and yours hits my heart for recent events, as you know of them. Beautiful words from the depth of the soul. You are a wonderful writer.

Peace.
