~ The Flag ~
A flash of color beneath the sky
along the street there comes
daddy, daddy hold me high
a blare of bugles, the sound of drums
hats off
the flag is passing by
Blue and crimson and white it waves
the colors before us fly proud
tears on the cheeks of old veterans
God Bless America plays loud
hats off
the flag is passing by
Veterans young and old
march with pride
eyes on old glory
for who so many died
hats off
the flag is passing by
Trumpets blare
bands march in time
from children’s hands firecrackers fly
hearts beat with pride
hats off
the flag is passing by
How many tears will fall
let the heart have its say
freedom is not free
more is passing by today
explosions in the sky
hats off
the flag is passing by

This poem has the every beauty and respect patriotism and thankfulness that America used to have. and should still have! Why it's lost and not there I'll never understand. Laziness or selfishness, I guess huh?
hats off to you Carole for this outstanding tribute. I hope all read this and get the Spirit of America and the Flag again!
