~ Autumn Thoughts ~ (freestyle haiku) autumn trees stripping out of their leaves discretely ~~ under naked trees lost glove lying palm up in colored leaves ~~ scent of burning leaves hover over a frosty evening large harvest moon ~~ cold gray rain washing the landscape colors running together ~~ crisp nights after the harvest winter is near ~~ low hanging mist covering like a blanket a frosty field ~~ dried brown leaves chase each other around empty school yards ~~ a child�s laughter drifts away crisp autumn breeze ~~ against the window night keeps pressing it�s dark face ~~ a flight of geese pulling winter behind them like a bleak banner ~~ � 2005 Carole Mathys

Each free style Haiku is a gem in itself and you have mastered this venue very well in each descriptive write. I. too, enjoy writing Haiku's and you have inspired me, with your writes, to delve beyond the obvious and look at Haiku's in a different light. Thank you.

As usual, Carole, your words are outstanding, picturesque and wrap around the mind like a soft, warm coverlet. What a joy to drift through your haikus!
*a flight of geese
pulling winter behind them
like a bleak banner*

This is perhaps the bleakest of them all, in their color and enjoyment, but also perhaps the most apropos for the coming weeks. (:D

As I read this gem, I thought also that the word *slipping* would fit here also. *Stripping* right now is how our trees are shedding their jewels, though. LOL
