~ A Lover of Women ~

A thousand dark secrets lurked in his eyes

they were hooded and sleepy

and sexuality clung to him like a cloak

He is a lover of women, mostly Southern

and a lover of words

When he got the two together

there was a perpetual temperature rise

running from hot to red hot

He belongs to another time

before flirting became extinct

and the pursuit of romance was still an art

He’s the kind of man that other men admire

and women want to be with

He is handsome, debonair, dashing

flamboyant, dapper and elegant

a gentleman with a silver tongue

this persuasive aging Casanova

He is part charming riverboat rake

and part swashbuckling rogue

He left them all with smiles

the happier for where they have been

Each had a rip roaring, fire cracking,

roller coaster of a ride

and were all the better for buying a ticket

and knowing him…

Extraordinary write. Every woman's dream man. Well maybe not, but certainly this woman's. Now I'm off to read more of your poetry. I feel like dancing when I stumble upon and exceptional poet such as yourself. I bow to your talent Carole.

Carole, Carole, Carole!!

The entire poem is brilliant, with many outstanding lines, but the one that really got me was,

"...and sexuality clung to him like a cloak...." SWOON! GAD. This write is ELECTRIC! *whew.* BRAVA!

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

Ah, Carole, you have touched that fantasy in most women to know a man such as you have drawn. Haven't most of us known one at some time or another; or thought we have.....

Well done. Joyce

I guess there are still a few around who know how to charm the women. I don't think they are all extinct.

This is really good, Carole!

"and sexuality clung to him like a cloak"

This line is powerfully aligned with the totality of this poem! Early on, your reader knows where this is headed.

"and were all the better for buying a ticket
and knowing him…" Such a respective line for the finale! Did you save your ticket stub, Carole?
