~After They’ve Gone Blues~

Presents all opened and admired

now safely secured for travel

Everyone talking at the same time

with hugs and goodbye tears

Standing in front of the fireplace

I slip out of my shoes

and pour a glass of wine

then put my holiday face away

The house and myself once again

begin to settle back into the quiet

of living alone

I believe the house remembers

the sounds of a family

of children’s running feet

the laughter and tears of living

In this solitude I am not alone

those seasonal blues drape around me

playing hide and seek

with my equilibrium

So for tonight memories leave me

stranded on the barrier of loneliness

this is really good...a grand description of the double edged nature of things...especially those things involving the emotional impact of relatives and family. Excellent work, my friend.

The house might be empty
but it echoes with laughter
and happy foot steps
laden with happy memories,
that no one can take away
peace be with you
Wishing you a happy New Year

Love & peace

Truly sometimes we wear a *holiday face.* Yes, I believe the house remembers. Of course, sometimes it breathes a sigh of relief when all the noise and activity is gone, too!! LOL Maybe our houses get a little accustomed to the quiet, too. A wonderful write, Carole. Hugs and blessings to you.

Peace. Joyce

the sounds of a family

I believe that, too, Carole, and Happy New Year to you.

This is so real, Carole, and you have captured that moment of dislocation and transition so very well. Marvellous narrative that binds mood and motion perfectly so that the reader is able COMPLETELY to feel what the Voice is relating. The moment straddles past with future, leaving the present as a vacuum wherein the two are merged in the dreamlike state that you describe... that moment before we brace up and get cracking again! Like a sandbar sorrounded by lapping tides, this is a very evocative write. Bless you and thank you. Wishing you all things bright and beautiful in 2007. LOL K xx

Each of us are with you on this. How wonderful it is to be lonely, again. You're getting so very good at this kind of writing. I like this a lot.

When you've revovered, join in, again, and we'll cheer you right UP! ! !
