~ Blue, Blue Christmas ~
As night tints the sky
Christmas and neon lights
lay down their glow
streaking across dirty back streets
as the sounds of a bluesy sax
leaks through shutters
moaning low
The lonely put on their best
roaming the local bars
looking for love
in back corners under neon stars
They are like tissue paper
between pages of emotional fires
and uncomplicated stages
where no more is required
behind closed doors,
but the occasional fling
where fire and passions soar
Turning out the lights
till dawn begins a new day
and reality slaps your face
You indulge in tawdry passion, midnights way
where blood boils hot and illusions win
finding a warm partner
and willing lips made for sin
Inviting oblivion
for a few delusional hours
hiding under the blanket of darkness
before misconception sours
in the arms of a stranger
Falsely cloaking emotions,
in holiday cheer
always running in place
to escape the loneliness of tears
and confronting yet another

Your Christmas should be sky blue, the one with all those angels holding the Eternal Light.

Now, go out and buy you something you don't need, and can't afford!
