For you

For you...

Twelve Pink Roses

and words like gems,

jewels, that shone with a mulish allure

but you did not hear

to you

they were but paste.

So we said goodbye,

as my heart cried

and you

became another faded memory

residing on the street of dreams.

This really struck a key in me. Many emotions. I've been on both sides of the rose...

Tears the heart in two and the gives reader the sensation of being trampled in the street. You've captured the emotion and pain with your verse.

Come on, Paul. We know this poem is not about you. What sane woman would disdain your beautiful words and gifts? :-)

A heartstinging write, yet tender. I especially like the last three lines. ~~Nordette

Goodness me, Darlin... you sure do know how to pick 'em... the right beautiful roses for the wrong lovely (but blind and deaf!!) lady... She is obviously not readin you... Your EQ, IQ and SQ must be all skewed, so put out renewed radar, Q, and climb into the Bondmobile with renewed vigour and passion: lovers are probably like the No 11 Bus... never one for days then all at once three turn up!! Chin up, Bottom, and you can always otherwise make me fat with an endless supply of Walnut Whirls. Come on round and we'll veg and make with the Ben&Jerry's comfort food... On second thoughts, better not... you'd have trouble squeezing into your protection if you sit about for toooo long.... Is that a pistol in your pocket?? Oh dear... when are we gonna meet up for a jar of Tetleys?! :))

We fully agree with Felix! Bittersweet, romantically sad, and so very beautiful!

"another faded memory residing on a street of dreams" this is a perfect line and so ends a warm romantic if sadly nostalgic poem.
Perfect Paul.
