Today is still
Like I could do anything
The trees are quiet
As if I asked them to stop
The songs of the birds
Are the spirit of the wind
And I can dance
(though peace makes me nervous)
The washing machine hums
Like clean
My skin is mine
And my hands are numb
My cell phone brings clear messages
From the world
From my love
(though quiet sings a dirge)
Today is still
Like I could do anything
The words are mine
And my soul is numb
The music keeps its secrets
I keep my wine
And I mourn
