When I was young, our neighbors had a camp at Joe's Pond. I was able to spend many wonderful days there. (A repost)
I used to swim in Joe's Pond.
The water was cold and clear.
I rowed a boat across its spanse,
never feeling any fear.
I had a wooden stick fishing
pole,with a string line and
safety pin hook.
I tried in vain to catch a fish,
but my bait they never took.
Many a happy day was spent,
at camp at Joe's Pond.
At night the stars twinkled
brightly, as the loons
sang their plaintive songs.
The years have gone by quickly
and the little girl is no more.
In my mind I still can see
the white sandy beach, and
sparkling waters of that tranquil
place.
Some day, I'll return to Vermont
and once again I will spend some
time at Joe's Pond.

What a lovely group of memories...I have memories of a lake in the UP of Michigan called Manistique...every summer fishing, diving, swimming, sunning, listening to the waves lap on shore lulling us to sleep at night.
