When I posted the article about vitamins, I forgot to list the dosege. I have added a little more information in hopes it will help more people.
Vit B folate is found in leafy green vegetables, asparagus, broccoli, liver oranges, beans and peas. HS FOLATE 400 micrograms, can reduce the risk of Alzheimers or perhaps prevent it.. According to researchers 400 micrograms daily of floate had a 55% reduction in the risk of developing Alzh. Many do not have sufficent intake of it in their diet. This article was in the Journal Alzh and Dementia and the Journal of the Alzh Assoc.
Vitamin E 400 IU is an antioxidant that slows radical damage in the brain about 25%. People who took Vitamin E over a two year period had better cognative function and longevity than those who didn't.They feel it protects the nerve cell membranes from damage from oxidation
VIT B12 1000MCG daily helps to maintain normal levels of homocysteine which is important to heart, circulation , nervous system and proper function of the body ,brain and nerve cells. If a person doesn't have enough b12 , their memory can be affected.
VIT B 6 helps in the formation of red blood cells and proper function of all body , brain cells and plays a part in the nervous system and helps metabolize protein. I am taking 100mg twice a day
Vit C is an antioxidant which helps protect the brain from damage. I take 500 mg daily... Vitamin E and C should be taken together.
Omega 3 can help reduce the risk of Alzh and eating fish at least once a week can help some. I take 1000 daily
Hurperzine A is believed to protect neuronal cells from early death. Studies show it out preforms some of the other drugs currently used to treat Alzh. There are conditions that preclude its use such as; active peptic ulcer ,arrythmia , or cardiovascular disease. I am currently taking 100mcg daily, and I do have heart problems which I take medication for. I have had no problems and am tolerating it quite well.
These hebal drugs are not monitored by the FDA. I have been doing a lot of research and these seem to offer the most hope at the present time for me. I also take Namenda, Exelon and Asprin and Prozac. I have found many who are not taking hardly anything to help them. Its a shame. There is so much information out there and people need something to hang onto and hope for. If you know someone who might benefit from this , talk to their Dr and see what he or she recommends.
