George wrote this poem in 2005. His words eleoquently express what he was going through at that time. His girlfriend has moved on and does not communicate with him at all. Prison has changed him and now he he's studing to become a minister and helps others who are in the work camp.
Let not my heart be broken
by words you have spoken
I have known for some time
in my self I saw the signs
I was weak and wrong
I was addicted for so darn long
Slowly I watched you drift away
pushing you back, while asking you
to stay
It hurts so much, but just the same,
with only the mention of your name..
The pain is evident in this. Ir is powerfully expressed. Your friend has finally found a valuable path in his life that I believe he has been seeking all along. Lost no more! He will be a changed man, and a good one! I'm so happy for him!
I really like the format of this poem Mary. The way George broke it down with " your pain, my pain, our pain, " makes the reader really feel the sadness that he is writing about. George has great potential as a poet !!!
