Like Karen said, there are six syllables in the first line, but you can eliminate the word 'shines' and the effect would be the same and bring the syllable cound back to five. It takes a few tries to get Haiku down, I rmember my own struggles with it.

You were close: the first line has six syllables, not five. Still, all in all, a good attempt, MG! Well done!
