Some Doctors Are Quacks

Make sure any new Doctor you see knows all the medications you are taking and has an update on your medical history. It will help to avoid a lot of potential problems that could possibly happen....

Beware Dr Quack
He's sure to get you down
You'll end up with No smile,
only lots and lots of frowns....

I went to see my medical doctor as I had a rash on my leg and it was spreading. She did not know what it was, so I saw a dermatologist on March 16. The office nurse asked for a list of medications I was taking (no medical history).. Th Dermatologist gave me a shot and some salve and told me to return in a week.

On March 23 , I went back to see him. He gave me a shot of some type of steriod and some prednisone pills.
When I got home, I took 40 mg of prednisone pills as directed. Within an hour , I became very sick and had to go to bed. We called their office and the nurse said that what was given to me, should not make me sick.

Boy, was she wrong! A diabetic should never be given many steriods! They have a big affect on the pancreas.

My sugar went up to over 600 numerous times. I was dizzy, weak and could not function properly. I was drinking contsantly , yet becoming dehydrated. Most of my days wers spent in bed. I lost 11 lbs in a week. My medical Dr increased my diabetic medication and even thought of sending me to the hospital. I learned to count carborhydrates and was doing accu cks four times a day. It was a continous battle to keep my sugar under control.

Gradually my bood sugars are coming down and I feel a lot better. The steroids are finally getting out of my body. I only took metaformin 500mg daily before all this happened... Now there is a new concern as my hemoglobin is droping and they are not sure why. More tests are to be done.

My husband is going back to the hospital on Monday morning to have his heart shocked back into sinus rhythum
again . He's been extremely short of breath and can hardly walk or do any thing.

Your prayers would help a lot.

Please becareful who you see and make sure they know about your medical history and medicatons.......Mary grace

SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT THIS...BUT LET ME TELL YOU WHAT I USUALLY DO. I LOOK UP THE MEDICATION ON LINE; THE PROS, THE CONS...EVERYTHING! IT'S A SHAME THAT YOU HAD TO GO THROUGH THIS AND I AM SURE SOMEWHERE IN YOUR CONVERSATION WITH THE DOCTOR YOU MUST HAVE MENTIONED THAT YOU WERE DIABETIC...THE INFO JUST FLEW RIGHT OVER HIS HEAD. IN ANY CASE, THANK GOD YOU WERE ALERT ENOUGH TO DISCONTINUE THE MEDICATION AND SEEK HELP. THANKS FOR THIS WARNING. LOVE, BLESSINGS & FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

Scary stuff here. I guess we have to take responsibility ourselves to let them know, as they see so many patients a day. Glad you're an the mend. Patrick

Sweetie, I am so sorry this has happened to you. Hugs.

food for thought that works for me - our body is an amazing instrument and fed the proper nutrition (mostly vegetables, no sugar or processed food), given proper hydration (water), encouraged proper elimination (very basic exercise like walking to sweat and move the lymph/digestion system)- the body will heal itself. More and more we are learning Medications help with symptoms and really are not curing the body.

A rash is an external sign of an internal toxic build up.

Healing Prayers to you, may you discover your well being soon!

I am on 1000 mg of metformin once daily & I have kept my sugar no higher than 180 or so, plus/minus...it may not be great but its better than the 1600 I had a couple of summers ago...almost died then, if you can stay with one doc & carry your scripts written down in your wallet or handbag, that would help a great deal...hope you are feelin better...Ed
