I am trying to convey to my grandchildren everyone make mistakes; but, you learn from mistakes; making poor decisions will affect you for the rest of their life.
Treasured days and nights have came and
gone. “Mom; I’m sixteen years old, I’m grown. ”If only you had listened and made the correct decision. Tonight; you would be safe in your bed sleeping.
Now; I’m left with a mental picture of a pair of fearful eyes and a mouth shut speaking telepathically. The words “Goodbye Mom; I’m leaving home, yet; I’m not alone.” I’m sixteen years old; I thought I was to old to scold”. It’s hard for me to grasp what has happened and as I listen to only moans and groans. I hear the words;
“Mom I’m grown, I’m old enough to conquer the world on my own.” Now; my babe is sitting with God on his throne; leaving me with a house, not home.
I am deeply sorry for your grief. There is so much raw emotion in your poem, it brings me to tears. I have children and a grandchild, and I understand your feelings completely. Good job Carolyn.
So sorry for you in your grief. I am told it is nothing like losing a child. I know I lost my hubby last Aug and am still grieving.
