Here's one more poem from a musical collection. I had moved into a new house (for me, new) and heard organ music late at night (a B-3, for those of you who may not know, is a Hammond organ with a distinctive sound, used often for jazz and the blues). Through it I met a neighbor, a fellow musician. Soon we played together. Now health problems keep her mostly away from her organ. But I still hear the music.

Sol

Late at night
My neighbor played alone.
Her soulful B-3 soothed me.
In time we played together.
When I was ill she said
Please be all right
You brought back my music.
I too play alone and gladly
And know the incompleteness
In that plasure.
Music feeds the player,
Yet needs the smallest audience
To give the gift full measure.
