Snark Attack
He seemed to welcome me
Into his vast arsenal of words
I entered, willing to tour, and begin
A genuine conversation, when
He reached under a favorite counter
And ambushed with an Uzi of contempt.
Mistaking silence for capitulation
He gloated “You’re better off
Even if you don’t know it
And really should be grateful
For my generous gift.
Don’t you feel enlightened now?”
Actually quite the opposite
But a reply would seem affirmation
To an ear with one frequency.
My energy shifted elsewhere
Sifting through noise for voices
Seeking exchange, not extermination.
There were more than I knew
Intimidated or bored by the snarks,
Voices fractured and faint
But I heard the strength
They could achieve in unison
They? My voice, too.

I am admiring the titles of your books above, wondering if I'll ever have time to read them and make reviews. This poem reminds me what a great thinker and writer you are.
