A poem written when I was very ill in 2004-2005 with liver disease.

I see through my eyes of ochre, impure.
Scattered thoughts, memory loss.
Weak in body, not in nature.
Nauseous, not dead.
Jaundiced orbs and canary skin.

You, robust and seemingly healthy yet so afraid of the truth.
The guarded secrets, why?
Afraid that I’ll tell?
I’ve kept them all, though
he’s a master liar.

Once we seemed inseparable.
Til the ass-e-tone came to town,
we stuck like glue.
A little dab’ll do ya...break away.
Confounded?

Tell me another.

(c)Janet Caldwell Sept./2005-2006

J.C., I want you to know, unfortunately I cannot and have not been able to track any of my favorite Poets, since I’ve joined AD. Needless to say, sometimes it’s very frustrating. I apologize for not making it back sooner. You have such an inimitable ability to cut through the B.S. and weave creative words and phrases, which can easily make or break someone in half. It is no wonder I have enjoyed reading your thought-provoking work. Your Den and enduring poetry gives one the inspiration and tools needed to confront and conquer so many hurdles, while continuing to forge ahead through the quagmire of life. Thank you for sharing your remarkable talent and outstanding compositions. Take care and be well.

This is a fantastic write of love gone awry because of lying. A person like that never gets away with lying because it shows on the face as well as in the heart which comes out of the mouth. Thanks for sharing this with us.

Loved the way you used ass-e-tone (Acetone) a known solvent in this one. I feel bad for your feelings though, if it's a real life representation.

How did I miss this poem first time around? And a wee bit late, now. 'Tis a tale penned from heartache, which I pray you are now fully recovered.

Please write more again...soon! I't proven 'healing' for me.

Janet,
Well apparently I've read this before, but when I read my comments I'm not at all sure where my head was. That's me! as bad as I hate to admit it!
It's always a special time for me when you post, I not only relate to your work but it gives me great inspiration.
You can cut through chase, with stunning abilities, rip ones head off and then compliment them on their new looks, all done with poise and gracefulness.
Being ill sometimes makes everything much clearer, and the sicker we are, the clearer things become. You were apparently extremely ill for this has the clarity of dawn.
It's good to see you and read you again Janet.

When we are close to the border between alive and well we somtimes see things clearer then we normally do and have to express ourselves with elan and grace for some but for others it's lay it on the line time.
