70's Sputter
She was a little bitty thing
blonde locks, and green eyes,
a sense of humour that made
a grumpy man sputter and sing.
Skinny limbs took her up a tree.
Spying the cars, throwing acorns
as they went by.
Hiding behind a limb covered with leaves,
heart racing as the tires screeched.
She was a rangy teen, with red spots,
long hair and that impish look.
Dancing through the woods,
swinging on the vines, pausing
to cradle a bull frog to hear him croak.
She was a lovely young woman, clear
skin and nubile. Entering the world of romance.
Never afraid to take a chance. Crawled behind
and held on tight. His engine flying hard, she felt free.
She was his woman, he was her man.
They smoked a bit of dope, until
the swelling of her breasts. He got a
job at Pepsi, loaded, and loaded some trucks.
She fussed and worried, remembering
his past. Internal confusion with some
disconnect, how could this last?
He went to school and studied, she worked
at the Optical shop. Out of left field,
she took off. Baby on her hip and
200 miles.
She is a little bitty thing
blonde locks, and green eyes,
a sense of humour that made
this grumpy new man sputter and sing.
