At dawn the leaves elongate,

their outstretched fingertips warm.

Unable to unfold, if the ultraviolet is under provided.

A new spell holds sway.

Emerald veins expand; follow the great canary globe.

Hungry, gorging, glutting, gone the cold famine.

Drinking digits converge trunk-ward in the night.

To experience the after-sap of the succulence released.

Are we poles apart?

Janet: I can "feel" your write here. The vivid images you conjure up in my mind. Sounds like your shrink gave you some good drugs for a change. Most only give bad advice.

You say a tremendous amount in this small space. Very
nicely picturesque. Beautiful imagery, and some profound thoughts.

This srikes me as fun to read... lots of interesting syllables to twist one's tongue around. And I wonder... if you listened closely, could you hear the trees sighing experiencing the after-sap? You can almost hear them while reading this. ;)

A very vivid, interesting write here, Janet... trees do have their own sensuality, you may have even used them here as an analogy for something more humanly-sensual; one can only speculate on that. Whatever the hidden picture within the picture, this poem has a rich, earthy quality, and was very enjoyable to read.

All the best,

Sara.

You just know how to make my blood cold--the emerald part--chill...woooo, brrr JANET! Love it!!! I liked this line "if the ultraviolet is underprovided." Something about it...can't figure it out...just love it! When you write a poem...you just sink your claws in it and mangle senses!
