According to the Bible (NIV) Songs of Solomon is a poetic wedding song that honors marriage. God created sex and intimacy for a reason and it’s not to be exploited. A husband and wife honor God when they love and enjoy this intimacy with one another. This book in the Bible is about a simple maiden and Solomon (the king). These verses compare the beauty of nature (God’s animals) and fine jewels to the beauty of the maiden. The king also promises precious earring for his love. The setting is Israel and its purpose is to describe the love between them and Gods love for all.

*The following words from Songs of Solomon,* tells about the king’s love for his woman and how beautiful she is to her friends and the king. The king compares her to fine horses and precious jewels and vows to provide her the finest earrings that he can bring. Friends ⁸If you do not know, most beautiful of women, follow the tracks of the sheep and graze your young goats by the tents of the shepherds. He ⁹I liken you, my darling, to a mare among Pharaoh’s chariot horses. ¹⁰Your cheeks are beautiful with earrings, your neck with strings of jewels. ¹¹We will make you earrings of gold, studded with silver. Will this promise help the maiden’s love for the king to grow strong? Will the king grow weary in time and tell her to return to where she once belonged? My dear friends, these things about life we really do not know. I like the title, the Bible is indeed romantic and not only.in songs of Solomon but the beautiful promises God has for His beloved.

John my friend, if ever I dared to compare my wife's beauty, with that if a mare in the kings stalls, God forbid, I'd not be writing this, but in any case, he sure had a way with words didn't he, a great thoughtful tribute to the verses of romance, well done John!

King Solomon certainly had silver and gold to lavish her with. I guess he started the consumer craze where every young lady wishes to be showered with silver and gold… at least that's what the commercials let us believe.
