The Beautiful People

It's Okay, go ahead.

Few people are beautiful
Less now than ever before
So many people are dazzling
So many are rotton to the core

How many times have they fooled you?
More than you'll ever admit
Once, twice, ten times a day
more than you'll ever admit

No one likes to be threatened
No one likes to be led through the nose
No one enjoys manipulation
There's shit under the smell of a rose

There's always that terrible hunger
The one that leads some to believe
That all those people have beauty
And it's something you want to achieve

I watch as the whole population
Jumps through the hoops of a fiend
Believing that they're doing it right
And the darkness will never be seen

You know there is always a reckoning
No one can hide out for long
All your intentions mean nothing
If you don't know 'tween right and wrong.

I have to mirror Masood Lohar's comments, about the third stanza. That was cool. You covered your subject matter well. --Joe :-)

Well said, Jennifer. Try watching Survivor for a good laugh and an unveiling of character flaws that make it interesting to a student of human nature. I've understood what you are saying for a long, long time. Good job! Try my Old Souls, Nevermore and Long Gone Love when you have time. Thanks- Jerry Andrews

I agree. There are LOTS & LOTS of impersonations OF "beautiful" people through faces.... I ache for a man to love my brains.

You Look FatCalgary by RickthePoetWarrior

Using Calgary as a backdrop the author satirizes the self-serving nature of the public as it continues to fatten itself, not only physically, but egotistically as well.
