when I get back home I'll paint my walls a hundred shades of blue
to remind me of the ocean and when I walked with you
I tried to hold your hand, instead managed to give my heart
I could hardly say a word - afraid I'd fall apart

but now I sit here miles away on the side of some old lake
wondering if I was head-over-heels, or just the usual fake
kind of girl I hate to be - the one that I've become
but no matter how much I slew off the road, I always return home

and lately home is located atop a grainy hill
overlooking the ocean - the recipient of my pills
no more Lithium pinks to get me through my days
instead I throw rocks into the marsh as thoughts of you take me away...

and now the girl that I've turned into - this one that stands before you
suddenly remembers how to love - hard to believe, but true
I want so much to tell you these things that steal my mind
but I wonder if your reaction will be nothing more than the unkind

that's something I could never cope with - your heart's precious rejection
no matter what walls I've built, my heart's out there without protection
so be careful what you say when you finally find this out
cause I'm in love with you baby - I'm in love without a doubt

Still Living on my Feet by Tichaona Chinyelu

Still Living on my Feet is the follow up to Tichaona Chinyelu’s first book, In the Whirlwind, which was rooted in a sense of hard-hitting revolutionary black love. However, in this sophomore effort, Tichaona brings the revolutionary essence from deep
