vanished promises,


and defeats


leave me waiting for


something extraordinary to


happen.


I dunno what it is.


 


I heard someone once


call it hope.


 


I heard someone once


call it expectation.


 


But I’m chalkin’ it all up to


stupidity.


 


Mere human stupidity.

Great poem. I know what you mean. But sometimes, the only answer is to live like the Buddhists do and live for the moment, as it is perfect just as it is, without expectation.
