I can’t take it anymore, knowing that you loved her.
I can’t read the words you gave her,
Or know the things you experienced with her
…The love, the lovemaking, the love.
In this life, you were supposed to be all mine,
But even now, although I’ve given you all of me,
You’re not that.
And you will continue to slip away
…More and more
Until you’re completely gone,
And belong to her again.

Strange how I seem to have locked myself in a cage
That cannot be unlocked, or even bent a little so that
I can escape, now.
Strange how this can feel like home when I’m so
Out of place and un-welcomed.
Strange how you can love me, but I can ignore
All the facts and continue to think that I am
Unworthy of everything you are.

And I will go on listening to the soundtrack of my life
And cry and be alone
Even though everything in the world is bright and sunny
…But I’m not even there yet.
The world is going on without me.

I’m not even there yet. Wait.

Emotions such as this expression are poetry in the highest degree for they are lived and shared. Excellent writing.

I once stopped to catch my breath, and let the world go ahead without me, and before I knew it a decade had passed.
Don't wait too long.

I think you capture loneliness well. I like the idea of listening to the soundtrack of life, especially when it seems like that soundtrack would be one of silence. It's unfortunate that it seems so unfair when the rest of the world is "bright and sunny" and all you can do is ask for it to wait for you. Good job, Mia.
