We all are neddles attached to a praying saguaro cactus for freedom from the desert slavery, which one day gets its miracle granted and we, if we have its patience and our prayers never falter can get ours too.
A needle among many
on a saguaro cactus I am,
I cause pain when contempt
slaps me with an angry hand
but will give refuge to little
persecuted birds who try
to escape from eagles
the most sharper claws;
a needle among many
on a saguaro cactus I was,
until its pleading raised arms
were heard from Him above,
and it was time for the cactus
to die…and let me go.
Georg - A very inspirational and enjoyable write. Imagine a cactus in the sweltering desert spending it's life praying and pleading for the end to come. Who knew? - HB

Hi Georg,
The meaning that I received when reading your poem was that when the cactus let you go, you were allowed to be happy, not that it was time for you to leave this world.
Nancy
I love how your cactus is spreading its "arms" high and reaching out to be "saved!"

This is so very spiritually moving! So soothing as if God was reaching down to collect the souls who have been waiting ever so long to be redeemed.....
Wow, Georg, this is beautiful, thought provoking excellence in verse; well done. A wonderful place you've taken me: thanks.

id never have thought of something so beautiful given a cactus.
and it is true... 40 years of wandering the desert before finding the promised land... i hope it doesnt take me 40 years to find the will of god for my life...
i like the way you were able to make the needle a good thing and a bad thing... a source of pain but also of protection...
i like the way you brought unity and equality to the needles praying too...
