Grandpa?...God's Talking

As we get old we discover that we don't know everything, like when we were young we thought we knew it all.
A few of you have presented or talk to us with pride about becoming Grandparents, so, this one is dedicated to all of you.

Poem Artwork

When we are very old and look around
at what we were so attached, our life…
we remember, younger, knowing all,
until, being a Grandpa, we see the child,
curiously inspecting all things that moves,
the first steps of experiencing life,
and his little finger will gentle touch,
will prod, trying to the thing to do no harm.

We close our eyes and remember,
Oh! yes it’s a been a very long long time,
when we crouched down to inspect
the travels up and down of a little ant,
and our nostrils suddenly remember
that special smell that toddlers had,
maybe is a perfume made of innocence
that mothers put on their beloved child.

Rocking chair, with watchful old eyes
we see the little offspring we were once,
looking down and things that moved
and knew nothing about Creator God,
but He was showing us an old picture
of ourselves when he made us the child,
so one day we could close our eyes
and have no regrets saying that goodbye.

He had granted me one more last look,
at what existence was all about,
from the beautiful rose that withers
to the purest snow that’s melting down,
with that curious little child in front of me,
a blue print of generations way way back,
saying to me that the wrongs were forgiven,
just close your eyes, that child…is Paradise.

I was a grandparent at the age of 38 but am almost 64 and am not yet a great grand like some of my friends are. Been telling my one married granddaughter When can I become a grandmother. She could care less. Maybe she should read this poem. Life is so short, but i guess when time is right she will present me with one. I am so looking forward to it, mostly I don't look forward to much of anything.

I too remember that freah baby smell. In a way we are also spiritual parents and children to everyone that reads or looks at our art. We can influence their thoughts, show them something we felt or saw, and then open their eyes to the revelation that although this world has its ups and downs, there truly is a love that binds us all.

Curiosity - looms greatly for children. It is the beginning of wisdom.

It is apparent [to me] that you are wise and delight in your grandchildren's curiosity. You are blest to relive such an incredible time in your life through them.

When I was born, Georg, I knew I didn't know anything - now, at my age, I know even less. You are deliciously sentimental dear friend.

Karma Bank to Following By Listening by Chiemi

These song lyrics and art are tales, tides and twinkling lights - tunes telling stories of warmth and sun, city and sand, paths that lead, and the coins we can keep in the Karma Bank. Spirit's been bypassed for sorrow, dreaming of a better tomorrow .
